He may have not won Jeopardy!‘s 2022 Tournament of Champions (ToC), but Matt Amodio still has thoughts about the competition as a whole.

One day after the quiz show announced that Amy Schneider beat 21 fellow Jeopardy! champions to secure the $250,000 grand prize, Matt took to social media to recap his entire experience. In a November 22 post to Twitter, he opened up about how lucky he was to participate in the Tournament of Champions one year after completing his astonishing 38-game streak.

“I feel fortunate to have taken part in such a fun ToC,” he wrote.”Congratulations to all of my colleagues and everyone behind the scenes at #Jeopardy for making it so great!”

Although he didn’t necessarily make it to the final round of the Tournament of Champions, it doesn’t mean Matt didn’t have a legion of people backing him. Shortly after he tweeted, folks shared their excitement about seeing him on TV again.

“Was such a pleasure to see you on the show again, you were one of our favorites by far!” one fan wrote on Twitter. “You made the season fun Matt. Thanks. Don’t be stranger. Check in once in a while. Let us know how you’re doing,” a different user commented. “What’s … a great @Jeopardy champion? Well done. Congrats,” another added.

As viewers of the trivia show may know, Matt’s tenure on Jeopardy! started in the summer of 2021, during which he ended up winning 38 games and earning more than $1.5 million in prize money. He made his official return to the Jeopardy! stage earlier this month when he competed against other celebrated contestants, including Amy and Mattea Roach.

Unfortunately, his run in this year’s Tournament of Champions hit a snag when he lost in the second semi-finals to John Focht and round winner Sam Buttrey. Still, it was exciting to see Matt return to the stage. And who knows, he might just come back in the future with a new form of “what is.”
